Looking to go rock climbing in Chamonix this summer and wondering if any one can suggest a good guide book that covers the area.

Cheers

In reply to Joe123: cragging in the valley? or mountaineering up high? or both?

In reply to CurlyStevo: A mixture really

In reply to Joe123: we found these two pretty good Mont Blanc classic and plaisir by Rock and Ice. Crag climbs in Chamonix by Vamos. Some of the other guides can tend to either be a bit old fashioned (in particular alpine club guides ) or not including pure rock routes (snow ice and mixed guides)

Also go for the Piola guides, two current available in English ( aiguilles Rouges and Envers des Aguilles) and two older ones Topo 1 and 2 of which only one is in English I think...

Are you planning on going earlier or later in the summer?
OP Joe123 03 Jan 2013
In reply to CurlyStevo: Last two weeks in July or of August

In reply to Joe123: yeah likely to be more rock climbing mid july onwards ( rather than mixed / ice). we went middle of august and there was lots of clean dry rock but the snow bridges started detorioating and the rockfall increased. It was very hot but heard a week later it was stormy and 8 deg in cham!!
