/ Phantom camrea
I assume this is a Troll.
Of course UKC is the ideal forum for someone 'thinking of getting' an Arri Phantom.
£2000 per day rental as I understand it - direct from Arri
For the record they are $50,000 to $150,000 per model.
Assume your bringing in a DIT (Digital Image Technician) to transfer the rushes etc.
Look forward to seeing your film on You Tube - is it a bouldering movie?
If your on a budget could get the Miro, from US$25,000-90,000
Once again, PLUS lenses.
It's not a cheap job, assuming your going through a rental house you will not only have the cost of hire but also you will have to fork out for a phantom technician and also as mentioned above a DIT.
The phantom may be rented via arri, but is not a 'arri phantom'.
The phantom is a ,vision research' product.
But yes, phantom gold 1500 fps is very nice! Ref the scene in 'Inception' when the van is falling from the bridge.
For you camera fans out there, what are some good cameras with slow motion capability which a mere mortal could afford? How many fps are we looking at?
depends what you mean by slomo...
even fairly basic DSLR's can do 50/60fps at 720p
gopro hero3 black can do 120fps at 720p or 240fps in WVGA
and then add twixtor for super slomo :-)
Met a chap a year ago who collected very slo-mo cameras from eBay - he does old-skool pyrotechnics miniatures (like for the old movies when you see a dam blowing up or a house exploding) as a hobby.
Anything from £100 to £1200 depending on luck.
You need to put film in them, usually 8mm or 16mm I think.
He had a 1960s 1000fps thing from Japan, it had been originally built for filming volcanoes. Awesome thing. Needed reconditioning but it had only cost him about £200.
