Go further north... we were out in Lyngen skiing last April and there was stacks of ice everywhere, temperature about -5ºC beside the seaside!

Agreed (I was there last April too) but I'm looking to do a quick and cheap trip and staying and getting to Lyngen isn't either of those!

I've ice climbed in Lyngen in April, http://www.ukclimbing.com/images/dbpage.php?id=30769 but the conditions were getting difficult - if nothing else the huge amounts of wet granular bottomless snow made getting to falls very hard! I've also been there then and watched huge amounts of ice collapse in sun (and avalanches from the slopes above), although it was really warm at the start of that week. If I was going skiing, I'd take ice gear with me, but I'm not sure I'd plan a pure climbing trip to Lyngen that late.

It snowed Friday-Sunday midday which added to the wintery feel, looks like it is due to go cold again this week with Easterlys setting in. Will be very surprised if there is not lots to go at end of the month. Latest trip ive had was 2nd week in April and any route facing North was still fat and in good condition.
