Hello,

My climbing shoes are feeling slippery on the rock.

Do they need a clean, if so, how do I go about doing it?

Thanks.

Are they new? If so, keep climbing on them and they'll 'bed in' and become sticky. If they're old, the rubber has probably gone a bit hard in which case, ditch them and get a new pair.

If neither of the above.....check your footwork or stop climbing in the rain!

First, check that the soles are free from bananas. Then, to check whether the shoes need a clean, look at them - are they dirty? If they are, remove the dirt. I find a substance called "water" excellent for this: it's freely available from fixtures called "taps". Just apply with a cloth and good bye dirt!
