Stitch... but not a stitch?

When out for a run yesterday I developed a pain which felt like a stitch but was below my navel and right across my abdomen. Tensing my abdominal muscles lessened the pain but made breathing difficult! The only thing for it was to stop for two minutes every five or so.

I know stiches are described as "transient" but every other stitch I've had has been on the right, just below ribs. Is this something other than a stitch or am I just feeling the pain in a different locus?

Neil.

Good call but I don't think so. I've torn muscles before but this was a different kind of pain to that.
