UKC

Hi all. Following on from the recent thread and the announcement from the BMC, all MAY not be lost yet.

Over the last few days, calls have been made (BMC, Forestry Commision, Sport England, Harrisons Rocks Management Group, Uncle Tom Cobley, etc.etc.)

Whilst no final decision has been made, there is a chance that the current facilities could be repaired and camping restored.

The proposal being put forward to the Forestry Commission (etc) does, however, rely heavily on voluntary labour.

Could any interested parties PLEASE reply (or PM me) if you would be willing to help on a working weekend or two and whether you have any specialist skill or qualifications. Plumber, sparky etc.

We are confident that we can overcome the financial hurdle but it isn't going to work without you lot!

In reply to Oceanrower: I'm game, I'm moving to COlchester in a few weeks and this'll be my nearest outdoor rock.
I'm practically capable without particular buildy skills. I can cook and carry and stuff.
If it fits in with my life I'll do it.

Is the proposal being put to the Forestry commission going to be published anywhere?

Please ask around and try and get more people to contact me. If I can go to my backer and the BMC with a long list of names and say that x number of people are willing to help it will really strengthen our case.

In reply to Oceanrower: if i might be so bold, to get more concrete yeses, pick a date to do it and try to get UKC behind it too. it's difficult to confirm you want to do something knowing you may not be available.

We have five volunteers from East Grinstead Climbing Club so far. Obviously dependent on dates etc.

I don't really have that much spare time at weekends but I'd be happy to donate some money if finance is needed.
