Are today's creative thinkers, doers, movers and shakers the equal or better than their counterparts of many centuries ago, if not further back in time?

Or has the modern world allowed creative skills to die out which can never be replaced because we just don't know who they did it?

Putting aside the issues people may (and do) have with 'art' nowadays, there are loads of people active in the craft industries, even if some of those skills (e.g. woodwork) aren't necessarily being pushed in schools any more. Definitely worth seeking out some of the amazing talent out there.

There's also a resurgence in people learning craft skills, which I think is a good thing.
