I've narrowed my choice of printer down to about six but am now wondering if laser printers have any advantage of inkjets.

Cheaper to run, and often faster, but usually more expensive to buy. The consumables are a bigger hit each time you buy but last much longer than inkjet ones.

Laser printers don't use up 90% of your ink cartridge cleaning out their nozzles!

Laser used to be better if you were printing large amounts, but in my experience inkjet has caught up considerably to laser for that, although it is still a bit slower. I use a 'HP Officejet Pro 8500' and it seems very cheap to run, I buy the 'XL' cartridges online and so they're usually about £15 each. The printer was about £150 although that was a while a go so it'll be a different model now I guess.

In reply to Richard Carter: definitely laser for me, for mono printing anyway. If I need colour I order prints online.
