Suprised that I couldn't find a thread on this already today...anyway

Nicola Sturgeon's response to not already offering childcare (this has already been devolved) to 1 year olds in Scotland was that the extra working women would be contributing tax to the UK, not Scotland alone. Therefore they won't consider it unless Scotland in independent.

If true does that seem completely fair and understandable? It seems a bit selfish to me to not help out Scottish mothers whilst part of the union. I may have this wrong, interested in others thoughts

To answer what I think your point is, sturgeon, salmond et al have probably witheld childcare whilst part of the union so they can point out how great an independant scotland will be.
