Climbing into the Olympics - well sort of!

"Youth Olympic Games

· Some new sports and disciplines not currently on the Olympic Programme will be showcased at the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games in 2014. (Sport Climbing, Roller Sports and Skateboarding as well as Wushu which was already planned)"

The Youth Olympics 2014 will be held in Nanjing, China 16-28 August.

No details yet about which disciplines or number of athletes

And is ice-climbing really going to be in the winter Olympics (can't remember what it said)

No ice climbing is not going to be in the Winter Games. there will be a demonstration event during the cultural programme in Sochi but that is still a long way from the Games. Climbing was similarly featured in Torino

Yer the bit about not getting in the Olympics was a bit odd. I did not understand the BMCs angle on that. Unless the article is really written for trad climbers who don't approve of indoor competitions, so then why admin the teams?
