Anyone recommend a website - Google finds plenty but a recommendation would be good.

Also, the usual UKC jokes.

Ring your local nursery. Most of the girls at ours do babysitting on the side.

What about kids of people that live near you (and you trust?)

See if there is a college nearby that does childcare, and give them an advert/postcard to put up for the Level 3 students. They are always appreciative of the money.

No kids nearby, no college nearby, I doubt anyone at his nursery lives nearby.

There are some good websites, but I was hoping that someone might have used one and could say if it worked for them.

On a separate note - how much do you expect to pay for a babysitter?

We have used childcare.co.uk - although more for live in nanny roles. At least you can get an idea of their experience from that, and they should be able to provide CVs etc. Babysitters with no qualifications will be £8-10ish per hour (in London), make that £20+ for qualified nannies.

Failing that you could try putting an ad on Gumtree, but be prepared for some random responses!

We've used them for years.
