Ripping from Iplayer

Is there anyway of ripping programmes from iplayer and saving them permanently on your computer... i.e longer than the Iplayer downloader app lets you

I use get_iplayer all the time. I can vouch for its performance in Linux or on a Mac, but I believe there is even a windows version these days.
