Cogne Ice Conditions

Anyone know what conditions are like in Cogne? Due to go out there in a weeks time so hoping for good ice climbing conditions.

got back today.

very warm, Cascade de lillaz has almost fallen down. avalanches on anything in the sun.

stuff that does not get any sun, Lilaz gully, Patri, stuff like that has good ice now but probably not for much longer.

needs to get a LOT colder for a period. A little snow would be ok but more than that will create interesting conditions.

Currently not very good conditions. I can tell you that much. However, it seems temperatures will drop to subzero next week, although not very cold by local standards. Check out meteo.it for weather forecast and gulliver.it for latest ascents reports (all in Italian I'm afraid).

I was there two days ago. A friend of mine is climbing in Valnontey as we speak. I'll update you tonight. You'll have plenty to go at. But look carefully and check the guides office board in Cogne. The whole area is just coming out of few weeks of unusual heat. It's getting colder again. Meanwhile it snowed (last weekend). For up-to-date snow bulletin check the aineva.it website (in Italian only I'm afraid). Reports here: camptocamp.org (multi lingual) and gulliver.it (italian)

Quick update from today. Friend says, re: Patrì: "good conditions".

Local forecast here: http://www.meteo.it/previsioni/Cogne/istat-7021 and http://www.nimbus.it/italiameteo/previpiemonte.htm I reckon you'll find good conditions overall, but temperatures seem like will rise again beginning of february.

patri left and right were fat eatlier this week as was monday money and several other routes. I didnt look in to the lilaz end.
