My laptop has a broken hinge, which has levered away the plastic frame adjacent to it.

It's a Samsung.

Anyone know if it can be economically repaired?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, probably.
Is is the screen female threads that are often moulded to the inside of the screen lid? This is common. You can get most parts off ebay, think of ebay like a giant scrapyard for computer parts! I get lots of parts from there, shameless plug:

haha, I know what you mean,

Yea, have to be really, I give a monkeys what they have on there, its private, I just fix em and move on.
Strip yours down and find exactly what parts you need then search on ebay, sometimes buying a whole laptop case is viable too, all deps whats out there at the time. I got a really good nick HP G61 full case last week for 20 quid, The one I had was knackered and scratched to buggerey, made it a nice bit of kit now.
