Went to the dentist on Friday for a (long over due) hygienists appointment.

Dentist recommend an hour so that is what the recpetionist booked a few weeks ahead.

Turned up at the appointed hour 13:30... went in at 13:35 and was out by 14:05.

Thought I'd saved some money but the receptionist charged me for the full hour as that's what had been booked.

The hygienist charges £100/hour.
.
I also think that I've been over charged where I've paid some money up front but less is actually deducted from the final bill. Its only £10 so not worth making a fuss about but seems very unprofessional.

Do I need to get a new dentist?

Yes. My (private) dentist sees me at short notice, quite often doesn't charge if it's just a quick checkup; I went to see him at very short notice and he pulled a wisdom tooth for £90 or something. Seemed like a bargain to me.

Id ask to have a chat with the practice manager to sort that out its not your fault that the dentist prescribed the incorrect amount of time.

Up here in Scotland £10 is worth making a fuss about.
