Predicting which way things will go on the Scottish mountains may well be pissing in the wind, but in my naive and optimistic opinion, I wonder if the current snow conditions on Ben Nevis and The Cairngorms could mean a longer than usual Winter season.

Has anyone experienced a February like this before?

I've just got back from being on Skye this weekend and there is a lot of snow around.

Could well be another long season in store.

Well it'd need one hell of a thaw to get rid of the amount of snow I saw today. If we do get the odd high and a freeze, I would say yes.

Its gonna stay warm, big thaw and we'll all be rock climbing in March, can't wait.

It does fit a pattern that's been noticeable--warm but lots of precipitation. How that will pan out on the ground is, I fear, a multi-solution equation. Who knows?
