You'd have thought the BMC would have got their Geography in order. How many North Yorkshire crags do they have listed as being in West Yorkshire!

Not a single reply regarding the BMC's poor geography.

I wonder if they can Navigate their way to Almscliff?

In reply to A Nidderdale boulderer.:
Earl crag is often confused to be in West Yorkshire but it's North.

Still basic map reading.

You should thank them for not listing them under Lancashire.
In reply to Offwidth:

Or The Peaks!

It all West of East Yorkshire -can't see your problem

In reply to A Nidderdale boulderer.:

Now you have done it, how long before before Al spots that? On a less serious point than the correct use of the plural you know full well quite a few 'peak' crags are in yorkshire (much more so than thise in the lancashire border skirmishes).
In reply to Offwidth:

Yep there are Peaks crags in Yorkshire, however they are better left in Peaks guides. God put them on the periphery of his own county for a reason.

So I wonder if the BMC are going to put The Cliff back into North Yorkshire, oh wait a minute aren't the BMC a Lancashire set up? (Manchester being a former city of Lancashire, pre '72).It's all a bloody conspiracy!

I heard all grit was going in the Greater Staffordshire guide in the next series.
In reply to Dave Garnett:

If the BMC have owt to do with it that will probably be the case, they probably think Staffordshire is near Aberystwyth.

It's only Yorkshire, get over it!

I'm trying to work out whether saying "Peaks" in a geography pedantry thread is:

(a) funny because it's deliberately ironic, or ...

(b) funny because somebody who is pedantic about what is in "North" or "West" Yorkshire doesn't even know or care what a major climbing area that is partly in south Yorkshire (i.e. also in the West Riding) is called

I thought it was purely to wind Al Evans up

You can't blame them when a massive chunk of North Yorkshire is further west then West Yorkshire
