Some amazing photos about! I missed it unfortunately, but if it's still likely to be displaying this evening I might just go aurora hunting this weekend. Anyone know if this evening will be any good?

Don't know what the longer-range forecast is, but this individual peak has now passed unfortunately:

Was up around Burbage on the bike last night and saw....nothing

Well not strictly true, the night sky was stunning, as indeed was the view over Sheffield, but no sign of the aurora. Admittedly I wasn't looking out for it, didn't know it might be visible, but did turn my lights off on one occasion to look at the night sky.

I think you had to be quite far north to see it, despite seeing some pictures claiming to be from Oxford etc.

It was pretty good around Aberdeenshire. I think I got out a bit too late to see it at its best, but it was still impressive, if not as colourful as I've seen it in the past. I had to drive a good way out of the city to get a dark enough sky.

There's a time lapse.

Very good here in Shetland. Like being under a huge pulsating lampshade covering almost the whole sky.

not sure about that - my parents live on Anglesey, here's a pic taken by a local photographer looking across Penmon island
