'The cultural bully from the Oxbridge Mafia'

Stumbled across his programme last night.

Stand up for the thinking man and woman?

I can't be as thick as I thought as I found it all fairly easy to follow.

He's good.

Wonder if there's any decent stone quarries in Crapstone.

I'll be honest. I liked his early stand-up, he was good, refreshing, and funny. I really liked his 'Fist of Fun', with Richard Herring. But I do find his recent stuff at times uncomfortable to watch. Yes, I still think he is a keen comedian, but he can drift into the description he quoted last night of 'cultural bully', he does say that the quote was from Lee Macs biography, frankly I think Lee Macs description is on the whole quite accurate. He certainly makes you think with what he says, but is it humour at it's best.

Take a look at this one from Stewart Lee, it is possibly one of his better sessions, albeit not to the taste of all. Stick with it.

I'm a big fan. Thought last night's show was excellent as always.

This routine was a cracking example of his style. A tremendous degree of self-awareness. Meta-irony!

He's brilliant. The Top Gear rant is one of the finest bits of standup I've ever seen.

Bit of an up-his-own-arse tit these days but often humorous. Thoroughly enjoyed his early work with Richard Herring.

I do think the cultural bully desctription of him quite apt.

I like my comedians to be funny!!

Mark Thomas does a good job in a similar vein to Lee but he manages to keep me laughing.

I avoid stand-up comics with the same determination as I avoid chat shows.

So it was only when someone on here mentioned The Clarkson Defence that I first had a taste of Stewart Lee.

I have watched a fair bit since and really enjoyed it.

Especially the rappers.

He's very cool

That routine about 'the scotch' he does at Glasgow Comedy Festival is the funniest thing I've ever seen. Genius.

This is the whole 'scotch' show. Without doubt my favourite bit of stand up. If you don't watch it all, go to 29 minutes in and enjoy the comments about Scotland, Braveheart (given to a Glaswegian audience). the whole thing is great though.

Apt in what sense?

Funny guy, I enjoyed his immigration themed diatribe in this series.

I liked the sketch where pretended to be on the telephone, and as part of the conversation mentioned to the imaginary other person how it gave him time to think of the next funny lines to say.

Stewart Lee dressed as a giant owl. Satirical?

It's got an animal in it.

Stewart Lee is great. I especially love this skit where he sends up Joe Pasquale.
