I have absolutely no knowledge of cameras and photography. Would like a decent camera which will last, take good photos without a great deal of user skill, have a decent zoom and be small/light enough to not mind taking out.
I've heard increasing mexapixels to the nth degree isn't the be all and end all. Quick scan through amazons cameras suggest upto £300 could be a fair budget, but very much open to suggestions.
Will be used for climbing, skiing, holidaying etc.
Thoughts?

I think these are worth a look I had a quick play about in Jessops recently and was quite impressed with its versatility so have ordered one as an upgrade from my older Panasonic . They get good reviews on the whole and I think the sweep feature plus the 30 x optical zoom clinched it for me .

Have a hunt around and you can get reasonable deals for around £250.00
