Which part of Scotland do people think is gonna provide the best winter climbing this weekend?

I'm erring towards Northern Cairngorms at the moment, just because of ease of access and the fact that all the forecasts look equally mild.

Is there a good chance of stuff being climbable in Sneachda, for example?

From today (Thursday 13th) in Coire an T-Sneachda:

Mess of Pottage: there are major cornices on pretty much all of it with some sizable debris on the coire floor. We looked at it but backed off.

Aladdins Buttress itself looks ok but there is a big cornice at the top of Aladdins Couloir/Mirror and debris below Aladdins Couloir.

Fluted Buttress and all the way to the Goat track is loaded with huge cornices.

Fiacaill Buttress looks ok and was climbed today (certainly the Seam). No cornices that we could see.

We did the right hand of the twin ribs and then turned up the Faicaill ridge and came back down the Goat track. That was all fine but on a lot of rock as the thaw has stripped quite a bit on those routes but the snow is pretty good. The Goat track has full cover.

Cheers,

James.

Cheers James, that's super helpful. Think I might sack it off in favour of a trip to the Roaches...

This winter's been a bladdy nightmare!
