When Mrs. Sore opens IE(I use Mozilla Firefox) she moans about something called outfox appearing. Anyone know how to get rid of it. I've told her to use Firefox but she insist on using IE. I'm on Windows 8.1

Thanks
PS "Outfox" does not appear in "Control Panel" -> Uninstall

Outfox is a PUP that probably came bundled with something you wanted. It does several things usually, including installing a program and changing your browser homepage. If it doesn't appear in the control panel installer, then I don't know how to get rid of the program half. You should still be able to go into IE and change the homepage:
1) move the mouse to the bottom right or swipe in from the right on a touchscreen
2) click "settings"
3) click "options"
4) under "homepages" click "customise"
5) click outfox and click remove
6) optional: Add google or whatever you want back in if it's missing.

Try opening up the desktop version of IE, the app version is rather limited.

Post a screen shot when it comes up if you can't find it then and I'll have a quick look.

Started doing a bit more research for you:

Seems a bit more in depth, you might need:
A) a second flaptop/PC so you can read and do what they ask.
B) a responsible techy mate - offer cake and coffee.

I'd reccomend Malware Byte for a scan anyhows, its good + microsoft security essentials for free AV software. But neither will stop the human element of people installing random stuff.

Might be worth in the long run if she has a habit of doing this of making a second account for her that's not admin so she can't install anything without permission.
