Satisfaction & happiness vs salary

Hot on the heels of the 'how much do you earn' thread, the BBC have just published this article that suggests the clergy have the greatest job satisfaction, despite quite low salaries (£20k)

I don't know how accurate the salaries quoted really are - from my own experience, I'd say that what counts as average in London, is very different to other parts of the UK so you have to take this with a pinch of salt.

My dad was drinking buddies with the local vicar and I got to know him very well, a great guy in all honesty and very happy with his lot in life.
North of England and 8 years ago he was on 16k salary plus a free house from the church plus the fee for weddings, funerals and christenings etc went in his pocket, he had the latitude to set the rate so poor people didn't pay much and the wealthy subsidised them.
All in all quite a good crack.
