Potential shock alert - the dutch are heading to a win over SA !

80/1 after 7.4, just 66 runs required

Edit - it's not just England I can curse, 80/2 of 7.5

In reply to Chris the Tall:

97/4 Now.

Go on the Neds..
 Al Evans 27 Mar 2014
In reply to lowersharpnose:

116/6 now, they might be letting it drift away?
In reply to lowersharpnose:

116/6 - 30 runs off 41 balls, but losing wickets
 lowersharpnose 27 Mar 2014
In reply to Chris the Tall:

116/6.

30 more runs .Neds were all for 39 earlier in the week, so no doddle.

 Al Evans 27 Mar 2014
In reply to lowersharpnose:

And the Irish girls have blown it against Australia
In reply to Chris the Tall:

134/9 now, close but no cigar I reckon
 lowersharpnose 27 Mar 2014
In reply to Al Evans:

134/9 Neds collapse nearly complete, god knows what will happen.
 Al Evans 27 Mar 2014
In reply to lowersharpnose:

Sad but really Neds chucked it away
 lowersharpnose 27 Mar 2014
In reply to Al Evans:

Yep, I think they did. Anyway, that was the warm up, now for the proper suffering.
 lowersharpnose 27 Mar 2014
In reply to Al Evans:

4/1 : Good start.
In reply to lowersharpnose:

> 4/1 : Good start.

For Sri Lanka ! 83/1 off 11

Eng vs Netherlands will be close
 lowersharpnose 27 Mar 2014
In reply to Chris the Tall:

I doubt England have the confidence to even start to chase the Sri Lankan total. An ineffectual defeat seems likely.
In reply to Chris the Tall:

Good Lord. What are they going to get?! 220?

jcm
 Al Evans 27 Mar 2014
In reply to lowersharpnose:

The bowlers have just been crap, I can't see our batsmen digging us out of this mess.
 lowersharpnose 27 Mar 2014
In reply to Al Evans:

England caught one at last.
In reply to lowersharpnose:

Sri Lanka are collapsing - 3 quick wickets. Think they've still do enough though
In reply to Chris the Tall:
Why, why, why, must we continually throw games away by bowling the same tripe time and again. 10+ an over from Jade and Bres, why cant Broad pick Ravi to bowl? Mo only went for 4 in his over.

It is just dull in the mind to stick to same failing plan time after time after time.

Edit for further ranting, Ravi and Wright both have better t20 figures than Jade and Bres (I know Luke is home but even when playing was ignored recently) any reason for 'enforcers' who get smashed time and again?

In reply to Chris the Tall:

Predictable start to England's reply
In reply to Chris the Tall:

At least they might not tease us this time and make it quick.

 the sheep 27 Mar 2014
In reply to Chris the Tall:

0-2 after the first over. Home time for the boy soon i feel!

In reply to the sheep:

At least Buttler will be well rested for the start of the county season
In reply to Chris the Tall:

39 has to be the first target, presumably. We need to focus on the Netherlands net run rate and challenge for fourth place in the group.

jcm
In reply to johncoxmysteriously:

Dont give them targets or challenges, poor little Lambs wont cope. Just let them know we are proud regardless and get the special jelly out.
In reply to Chris the Tall:

Cricinfo reckon England have only been 0-2 twice in their history - in their last two matches.

That can't be true, can it? It must mean just 20-20, no?

jcm
In reply to johncoxmysteriously:

I guess so

Meanwhile, England are fighting back - at what point will the next flurry of wickets occur ?
In reply to Chris the Tall:
Any minute now, presumably.

Still, the theory that the damp ball was hampering England's bowlers and fielders and that SL would have the same problem has to some small extent been justified.

jcm

Malinga back. This should be the end of the fun. I'll be very surprised if he concedes 25 in an over.

In reply to johncoxmysteriously:

Well it's a good effort by Hales and Morgan , but I still think it's going to end in tears, hope I'm wrong.
In reply to Al Evans:

Morgan's gone, but 152/3 is a pretty good score at this stage
In reply to Chris the Tall:

23 required off 2 overs
In reply to Chris the Tall:

England leaving the customary collapse worryingly late here.

jcm
In reply to Chris the Tall:

Cricinfo reckon Hales' is the first T20 century for England. Again, can that really be true?!

jcm
In reply to johncoxmysteriously:

So it would seem

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=3;filter=adv...

What an amazing result
 Al Evans 27 Mar 2014
In reply to johncoxmysteriously:

What an innings by Hales, stuck it to the end and it all came good for England
 Al Evans 27 Mar 2014
In reply to Chris the Tall:

You have to admit it may not be test cricket, but T20 has some exciting finishes.
In reply to Chris the Tall:

Bloody hell, when I take the dog I expect a collapse not a sodding win!

Should be a wake up to bowlers this, sorry to be all neg but a few less 10+ economy rates and we'll have a decent side on the pitch as instead of on paper.
In reply to Al Evans:

Yep, but I've got a feeling England will be undone by the dodgy result in the first game
In reply to Chris the Tall:

Or another drubbing by the Dutch!
 lowersharpnose 27 Mar 2014
In reply to Chris the Tall:

I had to go out and do some work and was enormously surprised that England managed a victory. A damn fine out at that. Well done.
 Al Evans 28 Mar 2014
In reply to Pepper:

I love the pessimism of England supporters, myself included there.
In reply to Al Evans:

Its a toxic mix of being a Man City and Cricket fan growing up in the 90's!
In reply to Chris the Tall:

I think Englands women have got the game against Bangladesh sown up - chasing a target of 138, Bangladesh are 21/5 after 10 overs !

Meanwhile the Windies are doing well against the Aussies
In reply to Chris the Tall:

Oz the favourites now?

jcm
In reply to johncoxmysteriously:

Yep, but after yesterday, who knows. The Windies seem to have run out of steam after a good start - 53 required off 4 overs
In reply to johncoxmysteriously:

12 required off the last over and Sammy has got his eye in - could still go either way
 Al Evans 28 Mar 2014
In reply to Chris the Tall:

What a finish by Sammy, I tell you I'm finding this T20 absoebing. Plus it's good to see the Ausies beaten
In reply to Chris the Tall:

My goodness, that does make Faulkner's trash taking look a little silly!

jcm
In reply to Al Evans:

> You have to admit it may not be test cricket, but T20 has some exciting finishes.

And another one today - 12 required off last over, 2 successive dot balls swing it one way, 2 successive 6s win the game

T20 seems to be superseding 50 overs as the alternative to test cricket
In reply to Chris the Tall:

In-running betting went from 11-10 Oz after 19.0, to 1-2 Oz after two balls, but then......

'James Faulkner won us that game by chatting his smack in the press' @darrensammy!!

jcm
In reply to johncoxmysteriously:

Bad mouthing the Windies always work does it not?

Sure declaring that we would make them grovel worked out well in 70's
In reply to Pepper:

India are going to knock these off sooooo easily.

jcm
In reply to Chris the Tall:

They should just take a cow out on to the field and milk that.

jcm
 Al Evans 29 Mar 2014
In reply to johncoxmysteriously:

Neds going well against NZ, could be useful for England if they win?
 Al Evans 29 Mar 2014
In reply to johncoxmysteriously: It's going to be another exciting finish;

New Zealand require another 60 runs with 7 wickets and 39 balls remaining
 Al Evans 29 Mar 2014
In reply to Al Evans:

Well it looks like the Neds have managed to blow a winning position, who does that remind you of? Still they managed to take NZ's run benefit down a bit.
 Al Evans 29 Mar 2014
In reply to Al Evans:

Well our bowlers definitely let us down in this one, for once the batsmen did ok.
"But England are eliminated and have plenty to look back on and rue from what was, in the end, an excellent effort with the bat but they had too much to do after a terrible end to their innings with the ball. Their bowlers have lost them this game. AB de Villiers took off for South Africa at just the right time and that proved the difference in the end."
 lowersharpnose 29 Mar 2014
In reply to Al Evans:

I watched and suffered. Infuriatingly close.
In reply to Al Evans:
If Kevin Pietersen had been captain, chosen the team and done as he wanted we would be winning everything. ECB are wan*ers.
 lowersharpnose 31 Mar 2014
In reply to Al Evans:

England are 26/3 chasing 133. Trouble again.
In reply to lowersharpnose:

59/6 off 13 overs - it may be a dead rubber but it's still going to be embarrassing !
In reply to Chris the Tall:

76/8 now, they aren't even going to get close
 lowersharpnose 31 Mar 2014
In reply to Chris the Tall:

86/9. Yes, embarrassing. Heads will roll.
In reply to Chris the Tall:

88 all out, lost by 45 runs
 Al Evans 31 Mar 2014
In reply to lowersharpnose:

A disgusting performance (again ) by the England mens team, let's put a bit more funding into the Women who are doing us proud!
In reply to Chris the Tall:

Cue trebles all round and a raft of promotions. Need fresh ideas and players.
