Peg replacement issue

If you take an old (crucial) peg out of a route with the intention of imediately replacing it with a new one but the hole left will actually take a wire instead, then i presume the ethic is to leave the peg out?

If not why?

Maybe if its a blind or hard to place wire, then replace the peg?

Or if the new wire placement is not that bomber?

Ideas please.

cheers

Case by case basis. Certainly if you can get a reasonable wire in I'd go with that.

Depends, some routes change in grade with or without a peg cause it could be an extra hold? Depends on how it is, I would reccomend taking it out and if it looks good for a wire then leave it, if not, put another peg in.

If it's a bomber placement (and not unduly awkward to place) then I would vote to leave it at that. If the route is fairly well-known then I suppose some kind of heads up would be in order (maybe on here in the GC notes) to give people some warning.
