Check out this bad boy:

That's my thumb for comparison. We found it by a river in Cornwall (the insect, not my thumb!)

I've never seen a beetle anywhere near as big as this; I'm intrigued to know what it is.

Any ideas?

Apparently they are quite rare and you should report their sightings.
