How much of a role does full cardiovascular exercise, like running, cycling or swimming, have in the training programmes of the worlds top competition boulders? I wonder what their 10k times would be? Just curious.

good for weight control to do aerobic stuff but top comp boulderers are probably doing specific training programs and I cant see a lot of transferrence as they'll already likely have some base level fitness.

Probably basically not much for boulderers. For instance, in his training video Jan Hojer (who just won the boulder world cup in Chongqing) says: "I train 3 to 5 times a week, usually for about 2 hours ... Even if I add 2 hours of antagonist training, stretching and running, I won't exceed 15 hours of training." ( vimeo.com/66473915 )

Not much for the cardio benefit probably, I'd imagine they would see more benefit from the mental and general conditioning/weight loss aspects though
