Does anybody know of a good book/guide to the wildlife and plants etc found in the Cairngorm Mountains similar to Mike Raines book Nature of Snowdonia?

Cheers

Hostile habitats covers the whole of scotland but is worth a look.

Dr Adam Watson has written some more specific books but I've not read them. He does know his stuff though.

Fantastic resource for all things Cairngorm:

Literature section here:

Shaw & Thompson (eds) ‘The Nature of the Cairngorms: Diversity in a Changing Environment’ TSO (2006)
may be a bit specialised but it's a magnificent book. I don't own a copy, though I have seen one in one of the local bookshops here. Could be rare, and fairly expensive, now.

Shaw & Thompson is very good but maybe for specialists. The Cairngorms -their natural history & scenery by Desmond Nethersole-Thompson & Adam Watson is a bit old (published 1975) but very good if you can find a copy

Another tick for Hostile Habitats. Really an excellent and well presented book which is not only relevant to the Cairngorms but explains what makes the Cairngorms different from the west.
Thanks for all the advice! I recon I'll give Hostile Habitats a go!
