I did my summer job before starting at university as a chemistry student at Pfizer in Sandwich. I come from nearby. At that stage (16 years ago) they were recruiting like mad. Pharmaceutical companies have a problem, drug discovery is not predictable. A large company like Pfizer grows on the sale of existing drugs but can only survive on discovery of new ones. Viagra was a bit of luck, really they can only keep going by buying up small firms that have got lucky. Buy Astra Zeneca is about self preservation.
