Good afternoon,

Just wanted to pick the brains of the UKC massive! I am looking at getting the Kindle Paperwhite (main use for travel and multi-day expeds). Can you switch the back light off and still read the screen?

YW, it's just like the old model when the backlight is off, and you can adjust the brightness to suit your needs. They are brilliant

I'm 6 months into my paperwhite ownership. My 3+ hours of commuting is less miserable than it was - a great buy.
