They seem ideal, any experiences? £10 a pair, cotton, loads of flexibility.

I have used old ones for climbing in before, they are fine. Probably best to get black though.

If it is really redders, I've been known to don my Thai fishermans pants!
Weird looks from the cool crowd wearing their ridiculous climbing jeans.

Great for indoors, very comfortable and almost no resistance to moves.

Outdoors..? - Maybe not for Peak grit!

Thai fishermans trousers are the future. I swear I climb 2 grades better when I'm wearing them

The 10oz canvas kumite suits are good for Peak grit abrasions.

Why don't you just get a cheap pair of cotton track suit bottoms instead. While I have never put on karate trousers before just by looking at some photos, I think track suit bottoms will be better. Karate trousers looks a bit too buggy, especially at the bottom - not that it'll make a huge difference.

If you are talking about indoors climbing, the most annoying thing I had found is not having a secure pocket as the lockers work with pound coins so I have to somehow carry the locker key with me the whole session without losing it. I got myself a cheap pair of trousers with military pockets that zip shut and never looked back.

Small thing but worth considering if you have those lockers where you climb.

Yep far too baggy - can't see your feet.

I suggest Mr Ronald Hill's excellent pants rolled to the knee.

My chalk bag has a small zipped pocket in it. Probably the most useful bit of kit I own for indoors!
In reply to Roberttaylor:
I think you'll be taken as a posing knobber, tbh.

craghoppers basecamp trousers have a zipped back pocket, ideal.

so I have to somehow carry the locker key with me the whole session without losing it.

I put mine on a small accessory carabiner and clip it to the back of my harness.

Much more sensible suggestion.

just googled Thai fisherman's pants to realise they are identical to what we were all wearing in India 15yrs ago

Just ordered a pair of Thai fisherman's pants! They look good for fannying around in this weather.

Not if you are bouldering

When I first started climbing I was a very keen martial artist and used to wear my trousers to climb in. Absolutely fine.

Note - if you've no experience of washing martial arts cotton trousers keep the cycle long and the temperature low. Otherwise they shrink quite impressively.

In reply to Simos:

The string on your chalk bag?

In reply to DubyaJamesDubya:

I don't have a chalk bag but I did use to use the string on my trousers, was always a bit worried I'd lose it though. Got trousers with a zip pocket, was such a revelation - when not climbing there is a pound coin in that pocket for the locker and when climbing I have the key for the locker. Flawless system, apart from never losing the key i also have never been caught without a pound coin for the lockers.

Now I perfected that, all i need to work out is how to climb.

I don't use a chalk-bag indoors (but do outdoors)
Zip pocket: Yay!!

Yes climbing is the problem.
