In the above template you can change the values in cells C10 to F10 for example. That changes the gantt chart accordingly.

Two questions:

1) is it possible to enter dates instead of numbers in the cells and change the gantt chart automatically
2) where can I find the formula that changes the gantt chart? I have looked high and low.

Thanks.

In reply to Saor Alba: Not sure what you asking.

Yes, you just change the format, or type in as 10/12/2014 or such like.. you can then send the values to other cells or add to that value elsewhere so click on H1 and do = F1+1 would be 11/12/2014

So you'd need to change the values to dates in the columns at the start, and then the values in the rows at the top to corresponding dates..

Thanks. Where can I find the formula/method that excel is using to calculate the position of the gantt indicator?
In reply to Saor Alba:

1) I think the template might be password protected.
2) Conditional formatting: Home...Conditional formatting...Manage rules.

Thanks to Iain and yourself.

It's conditional formatting like you say. I like it but need to get my head around it!
