Compact recommendation

My much loved Panasonic LX-3 seems to be on the way out, so I'm on the lookout for a replacement. Something about the same size with a fast, wideish lens, good sensor for low light, raw support and things like exposure bracketing.

The LX-7 is obviously a contender, but is a couple of years old now. Is there anything else worth looking into?

I generally prefer low light performance & low noise to high res.

Sony RX100 Mk3 seems to be the most highly regarded compact ever made, and is always a top recommendation here. The sensor is significantly larger than that of the Lumix, giving very good low light performance.

Check DPReview.com for an in depth review.

How big is it physically? I would like to use the same case if possible.
In reply to davidbeynon:

I don't have one.
Have a look round t'internet; I get the impression it's a similar size to the LX.

Just looking. Looks v promising, but lacks a hot shoe which could be a pain - I use a hot shoe mounted spirit level for setting up shots in the dark.

Not a deal breaker if the image quality is good enough though.
In reply to davidbeynon:

It has an inbuilt electronic level.

Aha. Cunning!

I will see if I can get a look at one then.

That is really handy, thanks.

The Sony is curently v tempting indeed, but I'm not quite ready to spend that much. Currently keeping an eye out for bargains.

the rx100 mark 1 and Mark 2 have an almost identical sensor so are worth a look. my rx100 was only £160 on eBay.
