Wedding Insurance

We have booked a venue for our wedding next spring and we are due to pay the deposit next week (£1000). The venue is privately owned so we can't pay with a credit card that would otherwise give us protection should the owner go bust/flee the country/die/sell the property. We have heard you can get specific wedding insurance for such eventualities. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendation?

could you use paypal?

Potentially, though that would only cover the money paid to him for the venue, not the ancillary problems should we have to change venue/change dates etc.

We insured our wedding with Weddingplan. Didn't claim, so cannot comment on that side of things. It cost very little in the grand scheme of wedding costs.

Thanks, We're definitely getting insurance. just need to make sure it will cover us for, mainly, the cost of the venue should it go tits up.

Think we used weddingplan as well, no claim but it will be the best thing you buy for the wedding. Heard too many horror stories.

Beware, though, it doesn't work for every kind of wedding disaster. E.g. Birdie ended up with Mrs Num Num and his insurers wouldn't pay a penny
