When I lived in Bad Abbach I used to hop on my bike and ride to the cliff just upstream from the Schwalbennest, Pentling. Good low level traversing, often dry and a cracking beer garden. An easy bike ride from Regensburg.
I don't think Pirka had been found when I was there. There has been quite a lot of development on the Bayerischer Wald granite, Jim might know more.
