Norton's diaries to be published

Edward Norton's diaries of the 1922 and 1924 Everest expeditions are to be published later this month. For those who don't know, Norton attained a height of 28,120 ft on Everest without oxygen in his attempt on the summit a few days before Mallory and Irvine made their attempt. It'll be a fascinating read.

I am sure it will be a very interesting read.

I always regret that Norton's achievements are overlooked as most of the talk revolves the Mallory/Irvine 'did they or didn't they' discussion. I am always staggered to think of Norton operating solo without Oxygen at 8,500m+ in the 1920's.

Yes. Norton obviously had loads of guts, skill, nerve, stamina. To the OP, thanks for posting, including the link to the Guardian article.
