So as an evil vampire lord with the ability to summon any of the creatures of the night why do you choose bats? I mean what is more scary and potentially useful in destroying your enemies; a couple of cute fluffy pipistrelles or an all consuming horde of honey badgers?

Rabies? you lucky lucky man! They reckon bats are the source for Ebola. That's worth more than a couple of honeybadgers.
