Could anyone suggest a fix for a problem with my tilt and turn windows? They are wooden framed WinkHaus windows, installed in a rented flat.

Generally they are in good condition and function well, but there is a definite feeling of air coming through at the base of the window when it is windy. The gaskets around the edge appear to be ok, but I have no idea of their age. There is also some wear to the metal fixing in the frame which the protruding part of the closing mechanism secures against. Could this be the cause of an insecure seal of the window?

I have tried adding a shim to the metal fixing in the frame with a few strips of beer can but to no real effect. Any suggestions for a better shim material or is the problem likely to be with the gasket?
Thanks.
