Thinking of doing a bit of traveling on the west coast of the usa next year.

Trying to keep the costs down.

Is it possible to pick up a car in LAX and leave it at SFO without incurring massive fee's?

Why don't you have a trial booking online or ask the hirer?

Are your flights cheaper with different arrival and return airports? A return ticket from one airport may be the best deal.

Yes. I did the opposite last year at a very reasonable cost. Use some comparison website like Kayak or Holiday Autos to find the best deal. You can usually get some extra saving by using some kind of cashback website, as car rental companies are pretty good for this.
