Which template can I use which is safe to download and simple to use?

Wordpress is about the most used, however if you want to download, and run it on your own pc, you would also need to download, php, mysql, and a vertical server, like apache to develop on your own machine. It's easier to register an account on-line to avoid the duplication and set-up, however if you'd like a better understanding of it, there is value in that method.

Wordpress links with various of the hosting people to make this easy - I'm a techno-numpty and I run two Wordpress sites, hosted with Zen, that haven't required me to do any complex jiggery-pokery.

Hi Clare, oh yeah you can install wordpress and other things like joomla from pretty much any hosting companies cpanel. Having used several different hosting companies, I now use https://www.vidahost.com/ for 4 domain names, which 2 of use wordpress.
