It's on in the background in my living room. How can TV channels get away with broadcasting (and production companies producing) such sensationalist b*llocks?

Because people love to watch it and get pumped up with outrage. I avoid programmes like that like the plague.

To continue the perdantic theme, there's only 3 thingybobs in an ellipsis.
In reply to FactorXXX:

Not at the end of a sentence.

And … there's no such word as perdantic.

I think it means that you're only allowed one piece of pedantry per thread.

I'm more concerned about the apparent State handouts of expensive perfumes to these immigrants. Still, I suppose it will help to mask their poor personal hygiene, bad breath and smell of their strange foods... But surely they could do with something more British, like 'Cheryl', rather than poncy French stuff?

Thanks for the correction!

And … there's no such word as perdantic. I know. ...

Not sure about the space between the period and the actual ellipsis though, is that correct?

It was even better in the late 70s early 80s, one didn't have to show any evidence that one was looking for work.
Happy days!!!

Not according to www.thefreedictionary.com/perdantic

"An attempt to be pedantic, but in so doing the pedant him/herself makes an error that may be picked up on by fellow pedants. In this case the individual is referred to as a 'perdant'. "
