I had a look at Red Tarn cliffs, Helvellyn today. The overnight rain has stripped everything off the buttresses and they are black. The gully lines are complete - full of slush, but there, and waiting for a re-freeze. The steep sections of Gully 1 & 2 (and possibly elsewhere) had neve/consolidated snow. However there was a big melt on and at the bottom of V-corner there was a small waterfall (being blown upwards in the wind). Viking buttress bare and no frozen turf even at summit level. Too wet and misty for photos. Needs a good freeze.
