Fingers crossed we might get a winter this year South of the border.

I had a look at Red Tarn cliffs, Helvellyn today. The overnight rain has stripped everything off the buttresses and they are black. The gully lines are complete - full of slush, but there, and waiting for a re-freeze. The steep sections of Gully 1 & 2 (and possibly elsewhere) had neve/consolidated snow. However there was a big melt on and at the bottom of V-corner there was a small waterfall (being blown upwards in the wind). Viking buttress bare and no frozen turf even at summit level. Too wet and misty for photos. Needs a good freeze.

Cheers for the post, but it's going to get totally trashed by the Express turbo thaw tomorrow

Well guess that's answered my question about my chances of finding snow on Sunday then...
