Just wondering if anyone has used any kind of mattress in the back of a car. I've found the back of my Astra with all the seats down is okay for lying down in but I'd want something more comfortable and insulating to lay down ideally.

Wondering if a big piece of foam might be best, or maybe some inflatable double mattress?

Has anyone done this before?

Ikea do a thin memory foam matress quite cheap which I think would be ideal.

A futon mattress works quite well and can be folded up easily too.

I use one which came from a kids bunk bed in the back of my Astra Van, works great. If its just for 1 night I just crash on my bouldering mat

Not inflatable; too cold.

One of those things off a sunbed can iron out the bumps. Top it with a self inflating cheapie and you should be OK.

I have an Alpkit inflatable mat (the thickest one) in the back of my Picasso, perfect for the job.
Predictably mats are not currently listed on Alpkit!
