Any news about ice conditions ? Or at least any contact where to ask.
Thank you!

I was there two weeks ago. Lots of ice around Drivdalen. Didn't drive further North. Would expect conditions to be even better right now as temperatures have largely remained low.

Here's my posts from my trip to Oppdal before xmas:

Kongsvollfossen

Brudetrusa

This Facebook page is also useful, although there hasn't been any updates in a few weeks (I submitted some photos but the admin never published):

Also, the town of Oppdal is under 600m but Kongsvoll is 900m and often a LOT colder.

Hoping to head to Oppdal in the next few weeks so can update here if still relevant to you.

Much appreciated. That looks much better than Rjukan at the moment. Unfortunately we have time to decide, what to do with Rjukan part of our trip, till 9.1.. Long term weather forecast is suggesting a change in weather pattern around 15.1. so we might take a chance and go for Rjukan anyway. It is not entirely up to me to decide

Consider myself reprimanded... I'm getting lazy being stuck in Stavanger, apologies for the delay! I'll get right on it

Haha thanks. That FB page is a great source of beta for the area.

Desperately trying to source info tbf, updates from Hunnadalen arent that useful plus the Isforhold rundt norge page has been very quiet of late. But if you get up that way, keep up the great blogging and I'll make sure it goes up on time.

Hemsedal also worth considering if you're just after an alternative to Rjukan, we were there last weekend and it was a little bit wet in places, but temperatures look cold this week so should be ok:

In reply to annak:

Visited Drivdalen in Oppdal at the weekend. Been cold over the last month. Lows of -22 at the weekend. The high ice routes look in really good shape but there was a lot of fresh snow that would make approaches difficult. Also some avalanche risk evident on the East facing aspects. Kongsvollfossen was looking really good. Looks to be a fairly dry year though as a lot of routes haven't formed at all, such as the routes in the Skiferbrudd quarry. Some routes such as Brudetrusa, Bjølla, Nybegynnergjellet, and Bratt'n i Gjelet were all in good condition though. Didn't venture as far as Vinstredalen but suspected that the ice would be poor, based on what we saw higher up the valley. I've managed a couple of weekends really good climbing in Drivdalen and I could probably go back and find another weekend's climbing. Maybe less options than might normally be typical in a wet year though.
