passport waiting times

Has anyone on here applied (or knows someone who has) and got a Passport recently?

Could you tell me average waiting times?

Mine came within a week over Christmas period,I was renewing it though!
In reply to johnboybuchan: Sent the application off the Friday before last. Got it last Wednesday.

So that's less than a week; startlingly fast service.

I renewed mine just before Xmas. Came back in 4 days..Impressed.
