Was just checking Twitter and noticed that Stephen Fry has uploaded some of his wedding photo's.

I find this pic somewhat disturbing for some reason. Anyone care to agree/disagree with me?

What reason would that be?

Is it because he has no tits?

All marriages are for one reasons, and that is to get what what they can.

Fry wants sex. The boy/sex-toy wants money.

Win win for all

I always thought that marriage is the business of two people. I like Stephen Fry's character and have read a book (another is awaiting - too much reading!). If they love each other for one or another reason, I am okay with that. I believe there is nothing as perfect couple and there will be differences between two people.

On the other hand, I find these pictures to be way much more disturbing: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2483741/Courtney-Stodden-19-Do...

How did you come across them then?

very disturbing. Wearing shoes like that she could fall flat on her face.

She seems to have develeoped preventative air bags.

I know. He's an extraordinarily attractive man, but I don't see what she brings to the marriage. She must cost a fortune in puncture repair kits....

Pretty sure 99% of people want both.

Creepy Oscar Wilde talisman sat next the vow registry....as well as a famous wit and bon vivant didn't himself and Bosie frequent east end knocking shops filled with young boys. Quite the pederast our Oscar.

Don't find it disturbing at all.

Can you try and give some reasoning behind your feeling? Age difference? Sexuality? Both? Other?

Quite surprised.

I thought this thread (and your good self)would have been shot to shit by the UKC PC brigade..

How refreshing that it has not.

Yet...

I'm genuinely interested as to why it's 'disturbing' though.

Find Stephen Fry quite funny and interesting to listen to but with the best will in the world, he doesn't photograph particularly well and I thought the link was to a particularly bad snap. But it seems reasonable.

They're both gay men, both consenting adults, doing something that makes them both happy.

I can't find anything about it to get disturbed about but wanted to see the OP's point of view.

Meh.

That's pretty crass, unless you're trolling.
In reply to ThunderCat: I imagine it's because his husband looks like a child in comparison with the magnificent Mr Fry. I imagine there are some undertones of paedophilia/grooming etc. I think the guy is 27 or something, so whatever. There are much more disturbing (celebrity) couples out there!

I think that's rather sad in fact. To a certain extent their memories of the event will be coloured by the photos; good wedding photos are important, it seems to me.

I think the most disturbing and shocking thing about this whole thread is the disgusting misuse of the apostrophe in the thread title.
 john arran 18 Jan 2015
In reply to Fredt:

As misplaced apostrophe's go that is'nt nearly the worst example, since at least its a historical abbreviation. I think the speling police would better direct their finite resourses elsewhere.

"Undertones of paedophilia / grooming" - really? Are people really getting that just from the look and from the age difference?

Thirtyyears difference when one is forty and the other is ten...fair enough...but can a 27 year old be groomed?

So, is "pederast" a word still in acceptable usage for older men who have a thing for much younger men? That was its original meaning, I think.

I wish them well and look forward to a time when those challenging plain daft comments on differences in age, sexuality or physical attractiveness might be seen as mainstream rather than unrepresentatively PC. I suspect your unspecified disturbance is a form of constipation, whilst some others here have either gone for a specified opposite or need lessons in comedy from the great man himself.

It's rather amusing that if it had been an old, rich bloke and a young woman, there would be little dissent against those accusing the bloke of being an old perv and the woman being a gold digger; but because they're a gay couple it's just sweet and nice and "Good luck to'em"

I think Stephen Fry stopped being great when he supported the trough-snuffling MPs.

Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart?

22 year age gap.. did anyone ever say she was a gold digger? He was just a bloody lucky guy..

Your good looks and personality?

My daughters 27 years younger than me .... TOWIE, Geordie shore, Kim Kardashian .... WTF I'd sooner live in a cave on my own than marry some one from that generation!
 Offwidth 19 Jan 2015
In reply to cander:
Sure you wouldn't, until something complicated like love got involved, but you were not put in this position so what you think you would or wouldn't do isn't slightly relevant. Its pretty obvious some marriages will have more selfish motivations but lets not drift into childish stereotypes as a first response, and if we want to lampoon, at least apply some wit... I mean its hardly like Stephen doesn't have some QI possibilities in this area.

Think it refers to a fellow into boys between the age of puberty and sixteen or seventeen. So probably illegal. Or a twink in today's discourse. From the amount of school girl fantasy porn about I doubt its a particularly singularly gay fetish.
