Headed south rather than north for a change, had two very contrasting days out....

Cracking day on Saturday at Green Gable crag, some fantastic frozen turf action going on due to the previous days westerly windblasting, though not a lot of ice or useful snow about. Spoke to a team who had been on Great Gable who reported similar but some useful snow ice high up. Some riming going on on the top third or so of Great Gable.

Today.....well.....today was a bit more testing! Headed in towards Dollywagon North with good intentions which were binned due to fresh fragile cornices at the top and a hell of a lot of fresh snow on crags. Plan B was Cock Crag, which was a fair bit more scoured by the wind and again, turf well frozen with some icing, but lot more useful snow too. Seems like Saturdays graupel fest on Gable had fell as actual snow on Dollywagon - some fairly hard going to get high in the first place.
Topped out into a significant increase in windspeeds at about half twelve, and decided to get the hel l out of there. Amazing to see how much snow transport going on - path up from Dunmail rise was at least a foot deeper by the time we were heading back down.

Couple Great Gable photos here, none of today though...distinctly not a camera day!!

Toby,

We got three done yesterday, all cracking single pitch routes at grade III - Epsilon Chimney, Ride the Wild Turf, and Garden of Eden. Great wee crag, in good condition at the moment.

Cheers,
Gordon.

Did Garden of Eden today - I'd be interested to know what you thought of it, we thought it was very good.
