ive put some led bulbs in my reverse lights but the canbus system dont like it, sometimes they flicker and go out. so I need to put some resistors in question is, do I wire it in series or parallel?

Series, could be a bit tricky to work out the values though!

In reply to ow arm:

If you’re trying to increase the current flowing through the driver circuit the resistor needs to be in parallel.
You’re going to need to be careful with the value so as not to damage the driver and the resistor is going to get hot so get a high wattage one and fix it to the metalwork.

What spec are the LEDs?

Could we get some more information.
What car and how old is it?
What is the resistance of the old and new bulbs?
Are you getting any DTCs?
Are you sure it is the CANbus?

Sorry to just ask questions.

What's the point of putting in expensive ~1W LED lamps then having to fit a resistor dissipating the additional 19W your car is expecting to see? The resistors go in parallel and they'll be about 10 Ohm, 20 Watt.

Sell them and fit bulbs. The resistors will cost more than the bulbs.

Not to mention that fitting LEDs is a modification and may cause insurance issues if you do not declare it and end up paying an additional premium.
