Wandered in to Lochnagar today. Access road was in pretty good shape. Some deep snow and crust here and there on the approach. We headed up Cathedral Chimney (soloed up to the start of the chimney proper then did as one pitch.) Turf pretty well frozen on the whole. Very little ice and plenty of only partly consolidated powder covering everything. The imminent thaw-freeze will hopefully work some magic! There were other folk on Cathedral Chimney and next-door Magic Pillar. We passed some other climbers on the way up but not sure what they got up to.
