One of us in living in the south west (but at the top of it so almost midlands) and one of us lives in essex (thank you for your climbing condolences).

We had a plan to head to the Peak, meet up and eith boulder, solo or trad climb. We have had some advice that nothing will be climable in the Peak this weekend, so are thinking about maybe Portland. I've been out the game for a few months due to becoming a Dad so sport in portland makes me super aware of how rubbish I have become.

I have a rare opportunity to get away for the weekend.

What would you do and why.

ps happy to ead somewhere beautiful with a maybe chance at climbing if the alternative when getting there is lovely walking.

Well, in the South, most of SS is out (perhaps Bowles but don't know) so, realistically, your left with Swanage, Portland or Cheddar.

If you want walking, either Swanage or Cheddar.

Also, plenty of caves down Cheddar way if you fancy trying that!

It's pretty snowy in Sheffield today, the southern peak might be better but I haven't got any current info.

so i've gone through my climbing forecast and scraped the barrel

North Wales, Pembroke, Devon & Cornwall are washed out by the look of things.

Peak district looks okay-ish but I think snow might be a problem

Portland looks okay but might be showery saturday.

climbing is such a harsh mistress

Very snowy...anyone know if any boulders stay snow free

Or if the roads will even be drivable?

Go to Swanage instead of Portland?
Also probably quicker to get to Chepstow than Swanage from Essex; Wintours Leap is a fast drying year round cliff...
